2021 Scholarship Applications Are Now Closed

The Allentown Art Festival Scholarship Program is an important aspect of the festival. A total of more than $26,000 was awarded this past year. Your attendance insures the future of this program, as you help create student interest and participation. All funds are obtained through artists and concessionaires fees. Two levels of art students are affected, High School Seniors and College Sophomores.

SCHOLARSHIPS

The Allentown Art Festival (AAF) is again offering scholarships, which are awarded to current high school seniors attending all WNY Counties of Niagara, Orleans, Erie, Genesee, Wyoming, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus & Alleghany in public, private or parochial schools and who have been accepted to post secondary schools in a full time visual arts study program. The scholarship awards are granted in an amount of at least $1,000. These awards will be made directly to the school for the first year of studies. Scholarship monies cannot be carried over from year to year and any unused funds at the end of the school year must be returned to AAF.
Upon re-application and satisfaction of eligibility requirements, scholarship recipients may qualify for subsequent scholarships awards (relative to sophomore, junior and senior years) depending on available scholarship funding.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Students must have been admitted to a nonprofit 501(c)3, U.S. Department of Education accredited school in the United States for full-time study in a bachelor’s degree program at the undergraduate level. Applicants must be permanent WNY residents and graduates of an WNY High school. Students who attend college outside WNY remain eligible if they maintain a permanent residence in Western New York.
Students must further have been accepted into a visual arts study program concentrating in one of the Majors as listed below.

Buffalo Public Schools A Part Of The Festival

When visiting the Art Festival, stop by the special tent set up for students from the Buffalo Public Schools. The Buffalo Public Schools Art Education Department is also pleased to announce the sponsorship of five awards totaling $5,000 through the Allentown Art Festival. The awards have been granted to schools whose art teachers have developed and submitted exemplary and unique art lessons. Each teacher is awarded $1,000, which is used for art materials thatspecifically help in the successful implementation of each teacher’s proposed art lesson.

2021 Erie County NYSSSA Recipients

The Allentown Art Festival supports the New York State Summer School for the Arts with at least
$5,000 in scholarships for Erie County high school students. NYSSSA chooses 140 students from
across New York State for this outstanding program. Concentrated Visual Arts in several media
are taught by professional artists from across the state.

Allentown Art Festival also provides scholarships to students attending the New York State Summer School of the Arts.

The Allentown Art Festival Inc, in conjunction with The Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo has established a permanent, self-sustaining scholarship fund. Even if the Allentown Art Festival Inc ceases to exist, the Allentown Art Festival Scholarship Fund guarantees that scholarships will continue to be awarded.
